LIM College – Where Business Meets Fashion is currently seeking candidates for the position of Transfer Student Advisor.

POSITION PURPOSE Under the general direction of the Vice President of Enrollment Services and working closely with the Transfer Admissions staff, the Transfer Student Advisor functions as part of the Admissions team, with a specific focus on providing support to transfer students. The Transfer Student Advisor's primary responsibility is advising and counseling incoming transfer students on academic policies, curricular issues, and courses needed to complete degree requirements. The position works closely with the Office of Academic Advising.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Student Service • Evaluate all transcripts for incoming undergraduate online and on-ground transfer students. • Evaluate all college level work for incoming freshmen including but not limited to AP, CLEP, IB and any other college level course work completed while in high school. • Create and maintain an outreach plan to engage transfer students early in the admissions process in a conversation about their credits. • Assist transfer students with defining and developing realistic academic and career goals • Provide accurate and timely information pertaining to the advising and scheduling process • Disseminate appropriate curriculum information • Provide pre-approval authorization for all courses taken outside of LIM College • Participate in first-semester course scheduling by transfer students • Working with the Transfer Admissions Team visit college campuses to conduct “on the spot” evaluations. • Coordinate comprehensive system of transcript evaluation for incoming and prospective students and working with the Associate Director of Admissions Recruitment make recommendations for streamlining process of disseminating information. • Make recommendations to faculty and advocate for course transferability
Administrative • Partner with the Part-time remote transfer advisor • Work closely with Academic Advising staff and support all new and continuing registration events on campus. • Working in collaboration with the Director of Corporate & University Partnerships, research and identify potential partners and recommend an outreach plan to Colleges and Universities, introducing yourself and your role and requesting a dialogue • Initiate and working with Academic Affairs complete and update transfer guides and articulation agreements with colleges and universities • Collaborate with key college staff regarding transfer issues • Coordinating with other departments to aid in the resolution of academic requests and academic challenges • Develop and create transfer policies and procedures between LIM College and other institutions • Update and train Admissions and Advising staff on transfer credit policy • Ensure all services are provided in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) • Ensure senior academic leadership and department chairs are notified of all course equivalencies and articulation agreements • Actively participates in NYSTAA and any other state/national transfer organizations • Data Entry all transfer credits and prerequisites as necessary • Participate in all appropriate college-wide programs including nights and weekends when necessary • Working with the Transfer Admissions Staff plan, execute and participate in Transfer Services Days, Instant Decision Days, Open House Programs and Information Sessions, and virtual events • Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Master's Degree required. Master's Degree in the field of Higher Education and/or Counseling preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of Business and/or Fashion Education preferred. Preferred knowledge of the Transfer Evaluation System (TES). EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of 1 to 2 years of equivalent full-time employment. Experience in Academic Advising with college-age students preferred. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Good interpersonal and public relations skills. Solid analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities. Project management skills and sound organizational skills. Ability to work well independently.
