The Department of Surgery at Rutgers NJMS is actively recruiting a Liver Transplant Surgeon for a full time faculty position. Expertise in all aspects of organ procurement including donation after circulatory death is required. Clinical and Translational research interests and experience are preferred.
The primary focus will be to deliver high quality patient centered medical and surgical care through all phases of Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery. This will include pre-transplant evaluation and surveillance of inpatients who are listed, Operative general surgical cases for listed patients, Organ Procurement including DCD procurement, Liver Transplantation and associated procedures, biliary revisions and other reoperations and the full spectrum of HPB Surgery.
The Candidate will also be expected to be active in all academic aspects of the NJMS Department of Surgery and in the education of medical students and house staff. In addition to educating surgical trainees, the Candidate will be expected to interface and work closely with transplant hepatologists and other professionals within the multidisciplinary Transplant Program.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Qualified candidates will have graduated from an approved medical school, have completed training in General Surgery, and an ASTS-approved fellowship program. Qualified candidates must be BC/BE in their surgical specialty and be able to obtain NJ licensure prior to the start of employment.
