About the Opportunity: Founded in 1922, the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University offers a unique model of business education that purposely blends innovative classroom learning with real-world business application. Responsibilities: The Senior Development Officer (SDO) is vital member of the D'Amore-McKim School of Business' (DMSB) front-line fundraising team. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Development (AD), the SDO will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects (prospects capable of $100,000 and above gifts), and will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding prospects and donors who have the ability to make gifts in this range. The SDO will work alone and in conjunction with the Dean, other DMSB development colleagues, faculty, Trustee volunteers and senior university advancement to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual prospects. In addition to managing a major gift portfolio, the SDO will work closely with the major gift prospects and donors on the DMSB Boards to create and facilitate a major gift peer-to-peer solicitation model in order to create an expanded and sustainable development infrastructure for the school. Candidates should have a proven track record in soliciting and closing major gifts, experience in volunteer/peer-to-peer solicitation management and be able to demonstrate a keen understanding of how to build strategic relationships and networks that will support long term institutional relationships
Highly entrepreneurial, energetic individual who has 7-10 years of progressive Development experience, preferably in higher education Experience in managing development/volunteer boards and implementing peer-to-peer solicitation models

Superior communication skills - the ability to understand and convey University programs, priorities and issues to a wide variety of audiences
Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, University leadership and faculty
Enthusiasm for pipeline building and discovery meetings
Overnight travel (west coast) and some evening and weekend work required
BA/BS degree required, and masters degree preferred
Ability to work independently and collaboratively; Strong personal work ethic, self-motivated and results-oriented
