About the Opportunity:
Responsibilities: This position resides within the Bernard M. Gordon Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems (Gordon-CenSSIS) and ALERT (Awareness and Localization of Explosives-Related Threats), a multi-university Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funded Center of Excellence. The Director of Business Development and Industrial Partnerships will create and sustain multi-level engagement with key Center stakeholders including: Industry Members, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other government organizations, and other Center collaborators.
The Director of Business Development and Industrial Partnerships will direct all aspects of the Gordon-CenSSIS/ALERT Industrial Membership Program; implement and execute membership related workshops, research and development opportunities, and will play a key role in establishing industry relations and inputs for new proposal efforts. This will include identifying and facilitating collaboration and special events between center universities, DHS and its components, and member companies to showcase center-developed and member-developed technology offerings that address current and future DHS needs.
This is a senior staff position reporting to the ALERT Director and requires close engagement with the Center's operational staff and researchers. This individual will be the lead member of the center transition team, which involves the organization of quarterly and yearly center project reviews to generate progress metrics including the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of each center project.
Qualifications: Master's Degree in a technical field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering preferred) with 15+ years of experience, mostly in an advanced technology field. Must have industrial experience including leading research projects, transitioning R&D successes to manufacturing, and/or working with strategic planning and marketing groups to introduce new products to market; Established professional network and experience engaging with professional societies and technical consortia; Demonstrated success in reaching out to new organizations (government, university, and/or industry) to explore and establish collaboration and partnering opportunities; Outstanding organizational and administrative skills; Experience writing multidisciplinary technical proposals; Ability to travel domestically to attend professional conferences and meetings.
Preferred Qualifications: MBA preferred but not required.
