The Business Office supports a $170 million, 26 sport NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Program. The position requires a high level of independent judgment to oversee and perform complex accounting, financial analysis and financial reporting duties. Primary responsibilities will include directing all accounting functions, financial internal controls, financial audits, complex financial analysis. The position will also be accountable for the development and maintenance of planning and budgeting systems, analysis and interpretation of trends requiring management's attention, the preparation of financial and management reports and procedures, and the presentation of findings and specific recommendations. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant - 5 to 6 years experience - Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, chief or senior accountant - Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures - In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) - Experience with business process mapping, evaluation and redesign - Awareness of business trends - Familiarity with financial accounting statements - Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process - Hands-on experience with accounting software packages - Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables - Ability to create charts, graphs and other financial presentations - Accuracy and attention to detail - Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
Preferred Qualifications: - Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred - Lean Six Sigma certification or other Business Process Redesign certification (preferred) - Experience with Data Visualization tools such as Tableau or Microsoft BI preferred
