The position’s responsibilities and organizational relationships are denoted by the position’s increased interaction with College and selected University administrative/financial offices and personnel; and the position’s critical role in assisting the Dean’s Office administrative team/CAHSS Leadership Team in developing and enhancing consistent and effective financial/budgetary processes, and implementation strategies; as well as ensuring fiscal accountability/compliance for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS).
With oversight from the Dean and other designated Dean’s Office administrators/personnel, this position has a primary responsibility for reviewing/standardizing the budgetary processes/initiatives for the College; working closely with the CAHSS Leadership Team to ensure consistent implementation of these processes at the department/program levels; and with the Dean’s Office administrative team, maintaining daily oversight/processing of the Dean’s Office budgets/funds, which includes state, private/Foundation, grant, University reserve & discretionary, travel funds, etc. In addition, the position/employee in conjunction with the Executive Assistant, also assists the Dean’s Office administration in ensuring the correct interpretation of University/State budget guidelines/mandates and required compliance.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The primary purpose of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is to attract and educate students into its liberal arts and social sciences programs, and to provide quality educational opportunities for those students in its varied departments. The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) has more than 1,850 students and 105 faculty and staff and is comprised of six departments, including Criminal Justice, English, History & Political Science, Journalism & Mass Communication, Liberal Studies, and Visual & Performing Arts. In compliance with its overall mission to attract, educate and retain students, the Dean/Associate Deans work jointly to establish and implement initiatives that will expand the capabilities of the College in areas of program and curriculum development; recruitment and retention; corporate, government, private-sector relations and funding; and faculty/student success.

High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
-Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and five years of progressively responsible administrative experience; or completion of two-year business administration/management program and seven years of progressively responsible administrative/management/budget experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Ability to think analytically; exhibit maturity and independent judgment; ability to intuit situations that require supervisory review/resolution; take initiative; organize, communicate effectively, evaluate and process data; maintain confidentiality; exhibit sincere willingness to work as a team member. -Experience with Excel database and functions, Microsoft Suite, University-based finance, student, requisitioning and scheduling systems.
