Mountain Empire Community College, one of the Commonwealth of Virginiaâs 23 comprehensive community colleges, serves the counties of Dickenson, Lee, Scott, Wise, and the City of Norton. It is located approximately 40 miles from Kingsport, TN, and enrolls over 4,300 students in credit courses (approximately 1,900 full-time equivalent) and over 2,300 students in non-credit courses. Mountain Empire Community College invites applications for a full-time RN Nursing faculty position available August 15, 2020. Rank is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Responsibilities include: * Teach as assigned Medical/Surgical, Pediatric, Obstetrical, Psychiatric Nursing and/or Fundamentals in clinical and/or in the classroom, during the day, evening and/or weekends * Advise students on curriculum and career goals * Work closely with Dean of Health Sciences in implementation of the concept-based curriculum * Serve on college/program committees * Develop new courses as required * Integrate concepts-based principles of nursing education * Maintain ten office hours per week * Establish and assess student outcomes and participate in institutional effectiveness initiatives to include assessment and program reviews * Participate in college, community and professional activities * Pursue professional growth and development activities in his/her discipline(s) * Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders important to the college * Schedule a minimum of 10 office hours for student questions/advisement * Perform other such duties as may be deemed appropriate
