The West Virginia University Health Sciences Center Department of Information Technology Services is seeking applications for a Professional Technologist 2. This position is responsfble for providing network account related support and roles, edit webpages with our content management system, train faculty. staff and students and research new technologies that will include testing and deployment.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Independently provide both inbound and outbound support of the technological needs of the WVU Health Sciences Center faculty, staff and students and will handle escalated support issues.
Provide support with web-based help requests and direct telephone calls.
Provide support and training to faculty, staff, and students independently for Learning Management Systems, Content Management Systems, commercial and internally developed Web and Desktop Applications as assigned.
Provides account administration support for the Health Sciences Center faculty and students using Active Directory and administrative tools
Independently monitor the Learning Center open lab and classrooms as scheduled
Facilitate computer application teaching and tutoring, both in a scheduled classroom environment, and individually as needed.
Has primary support responslbf!ity for the client side of the client/server networks in the Health Sciences Center including new network client installations, client workstation testing and maintenance.
Assists users in logging onto Local Area Networks (LANs), using applications software (including WVU/WVUH applications)
Troubleshoots both hardware and software problems that may arise on Health Sciences Center computers, LANs and VoiP phones
Independently test software package creations within our Microsoft System Center Configuration networking software.
Must maintain a flexible work schedule as some early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.
Must be on call to respond to network emergencies/helpdesk support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Bachelor's degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Certification or equivalent experience in using Windows OS, and Mac OSX on Local Area Networks, and in standalone configurations.
Two (2) years of experience:
IT environment (may include end user support, web based content management, hardware, diagnostics, etc.)
Managing and troubleshooting computer peripherals.
Installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows and Apple Mac computers.
Providing end user support for computer technology.
Experience with a variety of computer systems and platforms.
Possess good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Must have independent decision-making ability.
Demonstrated ability to operate and configure all recent releases of Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
Demonstrated ability to install expansion boards, memory, and utilities on supported computers,
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact at all organizational levels and with technical staff, managers. and end-users.
Ability to work in groups with people of different backgrounds and abilities
Demonstrated ability to prepare technical documentation and justify approach used, resolve complex issues, explain and/ or train staff on technical features of an application or process
Knowledge of computer security issues. requirements and trends including an awareness of information security laws (such as HIPAA) and accepted industry practice.
A+ Certification preferred.
CCNA Certification preferred.
