JOBSUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Part-Time Police Officerworks under the direction of the Chief of Police to safely and expeditiouslyretrieve funds from various departments on UTHSC campuses and transport thefunds for deposit at a designated financial institution. This position willcomplement shift shortages and serve to provide safety and protection topersonnel and property, as well as deter crime. This position patrols anassigned area to enforce laws and ordinances, regulate traffic, control crowds,prevent crime, and arrest violators.
Collects funds from various departments on campus and coordinates with the Bursar's Office prior to transporting funds.
Transports collected funds to appropriate financial institution; deposits all collected funds; and returns all deposit slips to respective departments.
Makes departmental fund retrievals at the designated times.
Patrols the campus to deter crime and maintains building security.
Apprehends, arrests, and files charges against criminal suspects when appropriate.
Presents testimony when applicable in a court of law on required cases when subpoenaed.
Regulates pedestrian and vehicular traffic; investigates traffic accidents and files preliminary accident reports.
Responds to security alarms and check for intruders and burglars.
Assists patrol division as shift complement, when necessary.
Notifies supervisor of theft, trespassing, fires, or other unusual events. Coordinates with other law enforcement agencies, as necessary.
Ensures safety precautions by moving safely, briskly, and directly to all locations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
