Reporting to the Stewardship Manager under the direction of the Director of Donor Relations, the Senior Stewardship Officer acts as a liaison for all patient referral requests and other hospital-related issues. The Senior Stewardship Officer , is responsible for stewardship support andinitiatives for higher level donors within assigned business unit(s) to promote renewal and increased giving of donors. This position plays a key role in supporting MSKs fundraising goals by assisting with the preparation of compelling and meaningful content for donors on the impact of their gifts at all giving levels.
The Senior Stewardship Officer will maintain a consistent portfolio of high-value donors who require stewardship or engagement working alongside fundraisers to impact the success of fundraising by strengthening relationships between all stakeholders.
The position requires strong project management skills and stewardship experience.
Acts as a liaison for all patient referral requests and other hospital-related issues. Screens and categorizes patient referral requests coordinating with MSK Patient Access Services (PAS) as well as, when warranted, the Patient Services Director and Associate Director in the Office of the (MSK) President as well as interfacing with the MSK International Center for international patients.
Provides a one-on-one personal concierge-style contact for patients and/or donors to assist in navigating all issues of appointment access, admissions requests, possible patient complaints, follow-up, billing issues and other related issues.
Establishes and maintains metrics on patient referrals
Provides a successful donor relations complement to augment the Development Officer/Development Office staff stewardship relationship with MSK donors and potential donors to maximize fundraising goals and to fortify the overall patient/donor experience at MSK.
Interfaces with myriad departments across MSK to effect efficient, timely and successful expediting of patient scheduling (generally in less than 24-48 hours) and resolution of issues associated with patient access to appointments at MSK and hospital-related issues.
Maintains an assigned Stewardship Portfolio of high-value donors
Collaborates with fundraisers as needed on the development and implementation of both long and short term stewardship strategies for donors that strengthen relationships and ensure a sustainable donor experience
Create, support, organize and execute donor engagement events
Collaborate on the development of materials needed to support fundraisingefforts, elevate giving levels and increase annual contributions
Work with medical colleagues within the institution to obtain research updates and scientific impact reports for donor funded research
Consult with finance colleagues to prepare and provide donors with fund usage reports
Organize and participate in meetings both internal and external, both planning and stewardship
Make recommendations on initiatives that will add to, and increase support for, the development department and donors
Collaborates with the Donor Relations Coordinator to develop and maintain a stewardship pipeline and timeline for annual reporting, events and impact reports for donors
Facilitates the coordination of the complex schedules of department leaders, staff and attendees including institutional leadership and board members.
Maintains information on stewardship in CRM and creates a system of reporting quarterly on the completion of stewardship initiatives
Uses internal software
Makes recommendations and improve on operational processes relevant to supporting the donor relations team and the development department.
Assist with other duties that support the donor relations team as assigned

Bachelors degree preferred plus 3-5 years of experience. In lieu of bachelors degree, 5-7 years experience can be excepted.
Experience in the clinical setting highly preferred, such as a former nurse, Physicians office assistant or patient coordinator
Experience as a proofreader, editor, or writer, preferably with prior experience writing and editing under executive level signatures.
Resourcefulness and excellent problem solving and written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in a high-volume non-profit philanthropic service environment.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office and other computer applications. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, fundraising databases, and CRM systems, is required for this position. Experience with Microsoft Creative Suites a plus.
Prior donor relations experience required.
Relationship management experience working with donors and fundraisers is required.
