Unit-specific Responsibilities Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, the Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP) works collaboratively with faculty and staff at all levels across the University and with external partners to ensure the success of a broad range of projects, events, and activities that are of high priority and strategic importance to the University. She or he works with the Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to ensure that the necessary staffing, resources and internal project management are in place to achieve the objectives of the Office of the President. The SAVP plays a critical role in tracking the progress of strategic initiatives and activities of highest priority to the President and Executive Vice President, and communicating updates to University leaders as needed. 1) Provide leadership and support for strategic initiatives and other high-priority activities convened at the direction of the President or the Executive Vice President 2) Represent the Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff in meetings and on specific University-wide committees and working groupsÂ 3) Develop and maintain productive relationships and regular communication with a range of colleagues across campus and in the community, including Officers and Deans, and other leaders in administrative and academic units, institutes, and centers 4) Oversee the Office of Events and Ceremonies and manage staff to support high priority tasks and initiatives, including Convocation and a range of high-profile, special events, utilizing necessary systems for effective planning and project management 5) Oversee and manage staff in the Office of the President to ensure strong execution in all areas, including, communications, files and records management, and administration and operations Â 6) Work with staff in the Provost's Office, academic units, the Secretary's Office, Civic Engagement, Enrollment and Advancement, UChicago Global, Alumni Relations and Development, Campus and Student Life and other departments as relevant to conduct analysis and prepare background materials and reports on various topics of current relevanceÂ 7) Act as a liaison with leaders in the Offices of the Vice Presidents, Deans, and the Provost's Office to exchange information about high-priority projects and tasks 8) Maintain and update tracking system shared among staff in the Offices of the Executive Vice President, Secretary, and Provost for high priority projects and activities across the university 9) Communicate issues, critical project updates and changes that require escalation to the Executive Vice President 10) Develop and execute communication plans for high-level announcements, in cooperation with colleagues in the President's Office, in Communications, and other departments and external organizations as relevant 11) Oversee the coordination of public appearances, in cooperation with colleagues in the Presidentâ™s Office and other departments/organizations as relevant 12) Other duties as assigned

Experience 1) Experience working in higher education preferred 2) The successful candidate must be familiar with the University of Chicago and understand the functions and needs of an Office of the President or Office of the CEO
