TRIO Upward Bound (UB) summer program is a 5-week required supplemental academic program for current high school UB participants. Each class is 80 minutes long and is Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM – 3:45 PM. Each UB student takes English, Math, and two elective courses based on their grade level. Math and English classes are taught in the morning and the elective courses are taught in the afternoons. Applicants must specify in their cover letter which classes they are interested in instructing. A maximum of two classes can be taught during the summer program for each staff. Applicants must be able to commit to the entire seven (7) weeks of employment (see below for schedule specifics).

Teachers are responsible for revising and/or creating curriculum in Computer Literacy, English, Math, Economics, Forensic Science, Student Leadership, Latin, or Bridge. In addition, instructors will track and document class and program data. Teachers will instruct in a classroom on campus, Monday-Friday, mornings or afternoons during a five-week high school summer academic supplemental program.
Classroom teaching experience
A strong understanding of the subject content area or interest
Direct professional experience with diverse high school students (can be outside a classroom setting)
Must be available from June 6th to July 24th, 2020
Must pass a background check
Classroom teaching experience in designated subject (minimally 2 years)
State of Minnesota Teaching Licensure
Curriculum development experience
Experience working with low-income, first generation students
Urban school setting experience
Candidates who have socio-economic backgrounds and/or experiences similar to TRIO Upward Bound student population
