About the Position
The Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Wellness (AAD-SAW) supervises Sports Medicine (Athletic Training), Athletic Performance, Beyond Sparta, and the overall wellness of our student-athletes. This includes areas such as nutrition and sport psychology. San José State Athletics makes a clear commitment to the health and wellness of its student-athletes. The AAD-SAW leads, administers, and supervises the initiatives and strategic planning instrumental to these commitments. The position’s primary role is to foster an environment that promotes comprehensive student-athlete well-being by providing leadership and vision for wellness initiatives. The AAD-SAW collaborates with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University leadership, and the coaching staff from all athletic programs to ensure a diverse overview of best practices and wellness framework. They also provide guidance to and act as a resource for the Athletics Department staff and student-athletes in the areas of Athletic Training, Athletic Performance, Beyond Sparta/Beyond Football, and student-athlete wellness.
This is a position in the CSU - Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position will require adherence to University compliance training such as: Conflict of Interest and Ethics, AB 1825 Sexual Harassment Prevention, Information Security, and Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The person hired for this position may be required to complete an outside employment disclosure statement in accordance with Title V of the California Code of Regulations.
