Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a motivated Manager, Social Services, for the Department of Social Services at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Manager, Social Services is to manage innovative social work programs for patient systems in accordance with professional practice standards and UMDNJ policies and procedures. Inspires a vision, provides leadership and engages in strategic planning for the Social Work Service. Provides clinical supervision for the Adult and Pediatric Oncology Social Workers and clinical support to CINJ staff. Responsible for professional education endeavors.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Manages research in the area of psychosocial and supportive care for patients and families, professional education and supervision and program evaluation.
Collaborates on research projects that are multidisciplinary, partnering with other departments at CINJ as needed.
Manages grant proposals for research, education, service evaluation or program delivery.
Assists in development, coordination, and enhancement of clinical and educational psycho-oncology services with CINJ Network hospitals.
Manages the formation and maintenance of relationships with area Graduate Schools of Social Work for purposes of training students in oncology specific areas.
Manages the graduate student program. Develops graduate oncology Social Work field curriculum. Interviews, selects, supervises and evaluates social work interns.
Assists in the establishment of CINJ as an educational resource for psycho-oncology in New Jersey. Manages the development and implementation of professional seminars, workshops and lectures and provides consultative services.
Collaborates with RWJMS departments (ie. HIPHOP, elective directors and coordinators) in the design, execution and evaluation of training for medical students on the psychosocial aspects of patient care.
Provides clinical education, direction and support to CINJ staff responsible for patient care in Adult and Pediatric Oncology.
Provides clinical leadership and direction to Social Work staff via consultation, individual and group supervision.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master of Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, LCSW required, Clinical Supervision course work completed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with diverse patients, physicians, management, and community members.
Must be able to function under rapidly changing and stressful conditions.
Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.
New Jersey Professional Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Five (5) years' experience in healthcare, primarily cancer care, including two (2) years in supervision preferred.
