Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Athletic Academic Advisor for Academic Support Services. This position is under general direction and provides sound academic advisement for student athletes.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Guides student athletes through the academic progress, drawing on knowledge and proficiency of NCAA rules and the academic standards of schools within the University.
Works with assigned coaches and team to plan enhanced support services.
Manages the data collection and distribution of information to various university personnel as directed such as athletic and academic administration.
Works in conjunction with the Director, Director of Eligibility and Manager of Student Athlete Certification to track student athlete’s progress in relation to NCAA guidelines.
Participates in recruitment activities.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/ or experience.
A minimum of two years related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with database systems
Ability to learn new office systems, as needed
Excellent interpersonal,oral and written communication skills
BA preferably in educational counseling, psychology, sociology, student personnel services or related field.
Experience in working with students and/or student athletes desired.
