Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration of the Chemical Engineering Department, the incumbent manages the Department's operations in collaboration with the Department Chair. This position will assist in developing, and is responsible for implementing and enforcing the department's financial transaction-and accounting-related standard operating procedures. The incumbent will monitor departmental financial activity to ensure compliance with departmental, SEAS, and University policies and procedures. Coordinates with the SEAS facilities staff and CU facilities to plan, implement, and monitor lab renovations and other facilities project. Work with faculty and Director of Finance and Administration to manage all functions of the Department, including accreditation, admissions, registration, advising, and curricular planning. Assist with preparing documents for hire.
Finance (40%) :
Assist in developing, and is responsible for implementing and enforcing, the department's financial transaction-and accounting-related standard operating procedures. Monitors departmental financial activity to ensure compliance with departmental, SEAS, and University policies and procedures. Coordinates with SEAS finance, internal Audit, SPA/SPF, and other internal stakeholders to comply with any audit requirements.
Provides data analysis and reporting, and works in close collaboration with the SEAS finance team to complete all year-end transactions.
Serves as a liaison with A/P, the Dean's office and other internal CU stakeholders on financial and operational matters.
Provides oversight of departmental finance transactions including TBERS, invoices, pcards and POs. Reviews supporting documentation and ARC system entries to ensure accuracy, manages the workflow of the departmental finance support staff to ensure timely, accurate, effective processing of expenditures and purchases.
Manages departmental casual and work study payroll.
Student Affairs (25%) :
Work with faculty to manage all academic and student affairs functions of the Department, including accreditation, admissions, registration, advising, curricular planning, etc.
Assist Department with events for recruitment, student engagements and colloquiums.
Human Resources (20%):
Coordinate, collect, review and process all personnel actions for employees to include new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, etc.
Operations (15%) :
Manages Departmental capital improvements. Coordinates with the SEAS facilities staff and CU facilities to plan, implement, and monitor lab renovations and other facilities project.
Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required, with a preference in Finance, Management, or relevant fields. Minimum of 2 - 4 years hands on experience in administration and management. Experience in higher education or other large complex institution.
