Big Sandy Community and Technical College is seeking applications for the full time position of Work & Learn Case Manager. The Work and Learn Case Manager serves as a case manager for individuals receiving KTAP benefits who are enrolled in an adult basic education program. It is their responsibility to supervise the KTAP population in both on-campus and off-campus positions while providing case management services to students that meet program qualifications.

Be a KTAP recipient
Enrolled in an ABE/GED program and
Have the desire to enroll in college.
The case manager provides or facilitates a comprehensive network of support services and activities that include but are not limited to: career assessments, tutoring, mentoring, life-skills workshops, development of paid and unpaid work experience activities, awareness of collegiate programs, work experience seminars. The program is a collaboration between Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and serves as a liaison between the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and Work and Learn students to enhance academic success.
This is a defined term contract, grant-funded position.
Include but, are not limited to:
Recruit participants for Ready to Work by visiting the ABE centers and speaking with students that meet eligibilty criteria for the program and actively work with DCBS case workers on referrals on OTIS
Monitor progress of students in the classroom and speak with faculty and staff to make them aware of services available.
Consult with students to aid and coordinate services with DCBS. Act as a liason between DCBS and Big Sandy.
Actively work with agencies and adult education providers in the community to create and provide opportunities for affordable housing, work placement, and other services.
Actively search for and recruit job placements and workstudy placements for active Work and Learn students, both in the areas paid workstudy positions and community service.
Assist the coordinator with preparation and monitoring of proposal and budget for the Work and Learn Initiative.
Research and apply for grants from outside agencies to aid with student needs in the RTW Program.
Monitor time sheets for RTW/WL participants.
Develop and deliver support services for KTAP students
ABE/GED KTAP student recruitment and retention activities
Budget maintenance: System Office Work Study Encumbrance Reports and assistance in monitoring the current expense budget
Daily file maintenance: Intake and Work Study files
Work and Learn Program reporting obligations: BSCTC Budget Template and Reconciliation, semester Work and Learn reports, and all other reporting obligations to BSCTC, KCTCS and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services
Development of paid and unpaid work study positions, assistance with completion of HR student work-study paperwork, adhere to all HR work-study paperwork requirements and adhere to all Business Office timesheet maintenance and submission requirements
Development of job expectations and soft skills workshops
Serve as a liaison for students between the ABE/GED center and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services
Travel to ABE/GED Centers, work study sites, DCBS offices and Community Partner meetings to maintain strong working relationships.
This position requires a bachelors degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field and two years related experience, or equivalent. Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills, be creative, self-directed, organized and multi-task oriented. Ability to travel between campuses and to employer sites is required.
