The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides academic and financial support for students to guide them through the rigors of their college experience. Students in the program will experience: Educational and career development workshops, Individual and academic counseling, Free and unlimited tutoring services, and Financial assistance and advisement. Reporting directly to the Student Success Assistant (EOP), Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Navigators serve as knowledgeable peer mentors and role models linking EOP Scholars to campus services (i.e. tutoring, counseling, etc.).
The following are typical responsibilities associated with this position. The specific responsibilities may vary and will be assigned accordingly by the supervisor.
Establish and maintain helping relationships with assigned cohort of approximately ten EOP Scholars to create and maintain a welcoming and inclusive community
Work in conjunction with EOP Professional staff members to ensure the academic, financial, personal, and career success of EOP Scholars and make referrals as necessary
Actively participate in the planning, facilitating, and evaluating of EOP activities (including the EOP Summer Academy)
Assist with outreach and follow-up efforts
Other duties as assigned by the Student Success Assistant (EOP)
As positive representatives of the College, successful candidates must have a working knowledge of office technology, procedures, and equipment; the ability to understand and successfully carry out oral and written instructions; have a clear, pleasant voice and manner of speaking; maintain tact and courtesy when working with the with the public.
Successful candidates must be enrolled in coursework at SUNY Genesee Community College, must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, and must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 at the time of hire/throughout the period of employment.
