CAEN is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to support faculty and students with instructional technology in the College of Engineering. This position will work closely with other instructional and informational technology staff in designing, managing, and maintaining our audiovisual(AV) environment. This position will involve working in support of collaborative learning and delivery across a wide range of pedagogical activities; collaborating with instructors and staff with an emphasis on clear, concise communication to resolve issues and operational aspects of rich media presentation and use.

Collaborative space AV Design; Play a key role in consulting and designing some of the most challenging and innovative AV solutions in College of Engineering classrooms, conference rooms, and learning spaces; Develop and document standards in narrative form and schematically; participate in new technology research and development; Collaborate on site surveys, systems design, line drawings, detail engineering plans, and other design related materials
Project Management of AV installation/replacement projects; Participate in projects at all stages; carry the project through the conceptual, design, and installation stages, as well as supporting the relationship(s) through completion; Assist with RFP’s, quotes, pricing documents and scopes of work; Work within a supportive team environment to accomplish project and professional goals; ensure that project deliverables and milestones are met including close out documentation and punch list items
Support and maintenance of AV systems ; Support of AV equipment to include: control systems and all presentation systems; audio and video conferencing equipment, distributed audio, digital signage, and sound reinforcement; AV component programming; Maintain current expert knowledge of audiovisual technologies; Maintain a working knowledge of competitor products and services and of emerging trends in the audiovisual, conferencing and collaboration industry
AV Troubleshooting; Troubleshoot complex technical issues, as well as track, resolve, and follow up on operational problems with equipment; Participate in answering trouble tickets, assisting callers, and doing on-site assistance as appropriate; Provide service-oriented high quality customer service to instructors and other patrons; Assist faculty and students to interact with audio/visual and computer technology and media in classrooms; Supervise and mentor student employees as appropriate.
Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant associate’s degree or mix of degree and relevant experience
3-5 years experience with the installation, commissioning Audio/Visual Systems
Considerable experience with and knowledge operating complex audio-visual and computer based technologies
Experience with A/V installation including equipment rack fabrication, site preparation, termination and calibration of audio video equipment, and implementation of control systems
Familiarity with Macintosh and Windows operating systems
Exceptional customer service skills
Strong analytical skills: ability to troubleshoot equipment, connection and software problems
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
History of demonstrated strong interpersonal and positive communication skills
Ability to interact positively with a very diverse community of faculty, students, and staff
Enthusiasm for customer service and helping people
Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and motivate others under tight deadlines
Ability to analyze a situation quickly and create solutions aligned with unit policies, to ensure effective classroom experience for students and faculty
Ability to handle stressful situations with grace and tact
Ability to work well in teams
AVIXA CTS Certifications or Training preferred
Manufacturer Certification Training on equipment
Crestron Programming Training and Experience
Crestron Digital Media Certified Designer or Engineer [DMC-D or DMC-E]
Hands-on experience with Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC and Shure equipment
Programming capabilities and experience; DSP programming experience
Knowledge of applicable University policies and procedures
