Provides immediate supervision to transit bus drivers and mobility vehicle drivers . Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established transit, mobility and organizational guidelines, procedures and policies. Requires full knowledge of transit services, bus driver's duties, and external rules and regulations.
Under direction of Shuttle Operations Manager, provides first-line direction and supervision to large team of vehicle Operators (85 - 170 drivers per shift) involved in the transportation of 15,000 passengers daily. Prepares and coordinates schedule adjustments, route and/or Operator changes and shift assignments; monitors attendance and provides back-up Operators for absences; monitors field operations to ensure routes and schedules are followed and that Operators adhere to DMV rules, operational policies and procedures.
Analyzes traffic and passenger data to identify schedule problems and reports information to Manager. Maintains communication with Operators during shift to ensure timely shift and route changes and quick response to vehicle break-downs or other hazardous situations. Working with the departmental training coordinator, delivers Annual Driver Training Program. Performs on-site driver performance tests and issues Commercial Licenses for Transportation Services. Instructs, advises and evaluates Shuttle Operators in the field or classroom on the safe, efficient operation of equipment; identifies and recommends retraining needs and conducts retraining. Monitors daily route services, signage, lighting and refers concerns to Manager for changes and/or adjustments necessary for operational improvement.

Working knowledge of transit service operations, as well as related policy and regulatory compliance requirements from governmental agencies. Working knowledge of shuttle statistical procedures such as passenger, maintenance and mileage logs.
Substantial experience supervising, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the work of others. Ability to schedule, assign and coordinate multiple drivers, shifts and shuttle routes.
Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of transportation/transit operations and required equipment. Ability to operate commercial vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.
Proficiency in basic computer applications. Ability to operate personal computer, using various software applications in a Windows environment such as: E-mail, Word processing and database programs.
Experience providing effective instruction, information and direction; knowledge of proper radio communication terminology necessary to expediently and effectively handle hazardous or emergency situations.
Working knowledge of vehicle accident response and reporting procedures. Ability to assess potential mechanical problems. Ability to deliver and promote a high level of customer service to a large and diverse environment and workforce.
Proven ability to multi-task effectively in a high volume environment, organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills. Skill at communicating changes in policy, behavioral issues and maintaining internal standards. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and effective manner with staff, peers, management, and members of the public. Strong public speaking and instruction skills.
