The Academic Support & Retention (AS&R) unit in University College (UC) is seeking a full-time (100%) coordinator for the University of Iowa's GEAR UP Iowa College Partner Grant. This person will join a dynamic academic and student services org providing assistance in planning and implementing campus-wide initiatives and programs that facilitate the academic success of undergraduate students.
The coordinator will support the transition and success of student populations, specifically new first year students who are May 2020 graduates of GEAR UP Iowa high schools, through targeted outreach and programming. The coordinator will assist with development and implementation of multiple components of the University of Iowa's 2020-2021 GEAR UP Iowa College Partner Grant including summer bridge programming, learning communities and embedded peer mentors, parent and family engagement, academic skill building, social integration, and student success analytics. The coordinator will also supervise undergraduate student employees who serve as peer mentors, collaborate with campus partners, and represent the Academic Support and Retention unit and facilitate presentations to students and their families during applicable campus events.
*This specified term position is grant-funded and is currently confirmed for April 1, 2020 - September 5, 2021, with the potential to change to a regular/ongoing position when the grant ends.
