This position will provide clerical support and customer service for the Athletics Business Office. Under direct supervision, typical duties will include: data entry, posting, sorting, filing, counting, scanning, and/or checking forms where work is repetitive and where errors are readily detected. Â This position will serve guests and staff entering the administrative wing by welcoming and directing them appropriately, and will handle all mail and shipping for the Jacobson Building.
The ideal candidates will possess strong customer service skills, attention to accuracy, ability to work in a high volume environment, ability to work effectively with interruptions, and enjoy interacting with a variety of people. Â Duties involve regular use of a computer and a variety of software and conventional office equipment.
Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm with a one-hour lunch break.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
â¢ Sorts and files forms, reports, and correspondence alphabetically, numerically, or by other predetermined classification.
â¢ Gathers, collates, classifies, and posts information according to established guidelines not requiring independent judgment in selection of materials.
â¢ Sorts and routes mail.
â¢ Checks forms, lists, questionnaires and related materials against established requirements and reports discrepancies.
â¢ Operates office equipment such as computers, copiers, calculators and/or facsimile machines.
â¢ Answers the telephone and refers questions to appropriate persons, as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
â¢ Knowledge of office routines and functions sufficient to refer visitors and telephone calls and to route correspondence by name or functional area.
â¢ Skill in operating office equipment.
â¢ Ability to learn to operate a personal computer or online systems and related software.
â¢ Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and the public.
â¢ Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
â¢ Ability to learn and perform clerical procedures.
