This position leads a team that optimizes and maximizes the usage of our clinical applications, primarily those that enhance the functionality of our electronic health record. Integrate systems to create solutions that provide the highest value to our stakeholders, clinicians, providers, and patients. Engage in IT project activities including systems analysis, requirements gathering, design, configuration, customization, testing, maintenance and documentation. Assist with planning and implementation of a variety of current and future clinical information systems. Responsible for ensuring efficient and effective operation of clinical information systems and applying high degree of competence, knowledge and creativity to resolving major problems. Evaluates system performance and investigates alternatives as necessary. Member of the information technology team which is responsible for the analysis, recommendation, preparation, implementation, and training of clinical information systems. Responsible for the meeting expected project implementation deadlines, including training as it pertains to athena and other EMR systems.
MSU Information Technology provides the primary leadership for strategic, financial, and policy initiatives affecting information technology (IT) across MSU. MSU IT offers technology resources that support MSU’s mission of providing education, conducting research, and advancing engagement.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in EMR applications, Lab Information Systems, LMS (Learning management system, Implementation of large complex, information system projects, experience with HTML and HTML 5; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Formal training and experience in athena clinicals, collector, and communicator. • Conversant in Software Development Lifecycle and Software Development Methodologies. • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. • Perform under stress, dealing calmly with persons acting under stress and adapting when confronted with emergency situations. • Exhibit the ability to relate well and build appropriate rapport and relationships with a variety of people in all levels of the organization, as well as people outside the organization. • Manage own work appropriately: focus on activities that garner results, set goals, review progress, set priorities and answer questions. • Self-directed with excellent initiative, communication, prioritization, and organizational skills. • Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity. • Flexible, adaptable and able to handle the ambiguity of changing requirements as dictated by HealthTeam and IT. • Maintain and demonstrate a positive attitude. • Prioritize work to meet demands of role, service delivery and project execution. • MS SQL
