Job Title Community Engag Specialist II (S13276) Job Description Summary Montgomery College, Office of Advancement & Community Engagement, has an immediate need for a full-time Community Engagement Specialist II, position #S13276. The ideal candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule and be available to work daytime, evening and weekend hours on a regular basis. This position is non-bargaining, non-exempt, Grade 25 position; position is located in Rockville, MD.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Creates a welcoming and positive atmosphere for all visitors to the Community Engagement Centers at various locations throughout Montgomery County. First point of contact for new and potential students and community members.
Conducts extensive grass-roots outreach in the neighboring community to raise awareness of the services offered in the College and Community Engagement Centers.
Attends and works outreach events like festivals, community meetings, and college fairs.
Works in partnership and coordinates service delivery with partner organizations and their staff.
Provides information to potential and new students or the general public seeking information in person/by phone/email about the college courses, programs, and services as well as community resources offered through partnering organizations.
Actively listens to students and residents' inquiries with patience and respect; researches and identifies solutions, and directs residents in proper action steps.
Anticipates and defines students' problem, troubleshoots issues, and follows-up with them as needed.
Provides logistical support for Center and program coordination.
Brings college programs to Community Engagement Centers like workshops, information sessions, and other college services.
Provides one-on-one advising to students assisting them with enrollment, scholarships assistance, FAFSA completion, and other services needed by students.
Two (2) years of customer service experience, higher education, outreach or a combination of appropriate-level education, training, and experience providing the ability to perform the work is acceptable.
Must have flexible work schedule to be able to work daytime, evening and weekend hours on a regular basis.
Knowledge of customer services techniques, relationship building and marketing.
Verbal and written communications, and in interpersonal relations.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite software applications.
Ability to problem-solve; to interact with a multi--cultural and diverse population; to work independently and with a team.
Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.
Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish, Chinese, Korean, French or Amharic)
Community Outreach experience or other relevant community experience in low income neighborhoods of the county
Experience with admissions & financial aid, scholarships and college application process
