Job Description Summary
The Research Coordinator will be required to coordinate the day-to-day operations for several research protocols. He/she will be responsible for the abstraction of complex medical data in order to determine study eligibility. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the research coordinator will manage data using different tools, systems and statistical software package and submit protocol modifications and continuing reviews to the IRB as needed, perform literature review, and write reports and sections of grant proposals and manuscripts for publication. The Coordinator role may also include direct patient interaction, such as enrolling patients in studies. There will also be an opportunity to participate in the design, conduct, analysis and writing of clinical research studies, along with the production of tables and figures. The job will also entail administrative responsibilities that will include organizing and filing research materials, data entry and extraction and proof reading. This position is contingent on funding.
This position will support day-to-day research and administrative activities within the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy.Â The position will be full time (40 hrs./week) and is grant-funded.Â Primary effort will be on a randomized control trial, the âœRandomized trial of universal vs. guideline directed germline testing among young adults with cancer,â which seeks to define an evidence-based, sustainable approach to identifying and managing genetic risk among young adults with cancer and their relatives.
The research coordinator will work closely with a cross-departmental research team and will be responsible for assisting with study recruitment and enrollment, including: Â review of patient medical records to assess patient eligibility, documentation of reasons for ineligibility, enrollment of patients into study, contact of non-responding patients, and maintenance of patient study records. Â The research coordinator will also assist with quantitative and qualitative data cleaning, management, and analysis; with qualitative interviewing; and with administrative tasks related to the study and to conduct of participant interviews.Â Additionally, the RC will attend weekly staff meetings.
Qualifications: A qualified candidate will have earned a Bachelorâ™s degree, preferably in a health related or social science field and 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Â The candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational, time-management and interpersonal skills.Â The coordinator must be detail oriented and accurate with an ability to organize and execute projects consistently and complete tasks independently. The position also requires excellent written and communication skills, and ability to exercise initiative. The candidate will have two years research related experience or equivalent.Â In addition, experience conducting interviews and/or analyzing qualitative data and proficiency with Excel are preferred.Â Â Ability to travel locally on a limited basis and occasional work evenings or weekends is required.
