The Ball State University Foundation welcomes applications for an Assistant Director of Prospect Research. The Assistant Director Prospect Research will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive prospect identification strategies with focus on identifying individuals and organizations with the affinity and capacity to provide charitable financial support to the University and Foundation; gathering and presenting data from internal and external sources to inform the fundraising efforts of Development; and supporting colleagues to ensure research needs are effectively addressed. This position will work on establishing and maintaining policies and best practices around prospect management and research.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. At least one year of experience in a research, analytical, or information specialist role within an academic, nonprofit, corporate, or consulting setting. Experienced in interpreting financial statements, stock transactions, proxy statements, annual reports and data analysis.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications: Supervisory experience. A working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and Fundraiser Performance Management, or other fundraising management or CRM system. Understanding of philanthropy (mission, practice, trends) and fundraising practices (the development cycle, prospect management policies and practices). Knowledge of and commitment to the values and mission of Ball State University and higher education. Must have high level writing skills as work product will be used by the Board of Trustees, University President, Foundation President, AVP of Development and other key Development staff. Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy. Ability to use technology to gather, interpret, organize, and present data. Ability to identify and adapt to shifting priorities, be flexible and resourceful, and exercise professionalism in working with internal and external contacts. Organizational skills to work on simultaneous projects independently or in a team, and meet deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Must exercise discretion in working with confidential information.
