The primary purpose of the Organizational Unit – Facilities Management is dedicated to supporting the education mission of the School by providing a safe, beautiful, and functional campus environment that meets the varied needs of students, faculty, staff, and guests. The Department’s primary responsibilities are to maintain the buildings, grounds, and physical plant of the campus; to design and build new facilities and to lead campus planning and space management efforts. Facilities Management accomplishes this work through five service units: Design and Construction, Maintenance Services, Grounds/Landscaping Services, Housekeeping Services, and Environmental Safety.
Work Schedule and Hours
M-F 7:00 am – 3:30 pm; subject to call backs
Description of Responsibilities and Duties
This position will be responsible for the grounds and landscaping at UNCSA and it’s surrounding properties. This position will involve pruning, mulching, spraying pesticides and herbicides, trash collections and at times provide support to other teams within the landscaping department. Turf Maintenance Horticultural Maintenance Equipment Maintenance Landscape Installation Tree and Shrub Maintenance
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.
North Carolina Ornamentals and Turf Pesticide License or State Applicator’s License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
North Carolina driver’s license required. Knowledge in high profile mowing, pruning, landscape installation and grounds maintenance. Must have a basic understanding of weed/pest control applications.
