The Associate Director position is part of a team of professionals that delivers UNIV100 (one-credit course for new students), and other retention initiatives to Radford University’s entering new students including University 150. The Associate Director takes leadership in UNIV100 as well as a number of new student transition efforts, but is involved in every aspect of programs delivered by the office. This person will have supervisory responsibilities for student leaders and Faculty Instructors working with the office. They will also make presentations to a wide variety of current and prospective students. Use of technology is a necessary part of the skill set for this position. The Associate Director will also work with Quest in supervision of 4 Graduate Interns, Check in and logistics with orientation.
Demonstrated experience working with students. Experience working within a team environment and understanding the transitional needs of new students. Strong organization and communication skills. Ability to design curricula for, teach, and train others to instruct classes designed to support the transition of new students to higher education. Proficiency with current office software for databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
Experience mentoring student leaders and in program assessment. Experience providing support to at-risk students, especially first-generation students. Knowledge of best practices in student retention, and ability to implement those practices. Experience working in higher education. Knowledge of basic graphic design would be helpful.
