Essential Job Duties:
This Research Technician position will be responsible for assisting with the canine and feline clinical genetics and Holter monitoring programs.
Daily responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the interactions with clients to provide test kits and test results and answer basic questions about result interpretations.
Assisting with clinical cardiac studies on canine and feline patients with inherited heart disease.
Occasionally provide minor assistance in the clinic to include gentle animal restraint for cardiac ultrasound and, venipuncture.
Collecting and interpreting ambulatory cardiac electrocardiograms (Holter monitors).
The Research Technician will obtain and collate electrocardiograms from dogs and cats with familial heart disease for the purpose of identifying phenotype in an effort to discern the genetic cause of certain heart diseases.
This position will involve the placement and maintenance of holter monitoring equipment used in the evaluation of electrocardiograms from dogs and cats with familial heart disease. The individual will be required to coordinate meetings with clientele and their companions, place and retrieve holter monitor devices, collect and summarize data and maintain inventory, as taught by PI. The PI must be kept up to date regarding progress in a timely manner.
This is a time limited position with a duration of 3 years.

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Ability to handle and collect blood samples from dogs and cats.
Accurate record keeping and detail orientation necessary.
Proficiency with MS Word and Excel, or similar software.
Must be willing to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
One year of laboratory experience.
One year of experience with small animals (dogs and cats).
