Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
A postdoc position in genomics and precision medicine is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate in the group of Subhajyoti De at Rutgers University Cancer Institute in NJ, USA. The candidate in the group of Dr. De will be involved in the precision medicine in cancer initiative at Rutgers, and in this role will develop and apply genomics approaches and bioinformatics tools, primarily based on next generation sequencing data for better diagnosis, stratification, and treatment of cancer. Our group has particular interest in dissecting tumor heterogeneity, single cell genomics, genomic instability, and tumor systems biology, and the candidate is expected to contribute in one or more of these areas. There will be opportunities to work in an interdisciplinary team both in clinical and research settings on a variety of high impact, cutting edge projects. The candidate should have a PhD in Genomics, Cancer Biology, with some experience in genomic data analysis using one or more of the modern programming languages (e.g. Perl, C++, Java, Python etc.) and R. Knowledge and experience of UNIX /LINUX is required. The individual must have effective communication, team working, problem solving skills, and adaptability to changes in technological and scientific directions. Preferences will be given to the candidates who have experience of working with next generation sequencing datasets, integrative analysis of large datasets, and running software on a cluster. Exposure to cancer genomics data is preferred but it is not essential.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Develop and apply computational genomics and bioinformatics tools, primarily based on next generation sequencing data for better diagnosis, stratification, and treatment of cancer in the settings of basic and translational research.
Write publications and reports of the research.
Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted.
Gives oral presentations of the research at local, national and international meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. and/or M.D. in Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Cancer research or related areas.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in one or more of the modern programming languages (e.g. Perl, C++, Java, Python etc.).
Knowledge and experience of UNIX / LINUX.
