The University of Iowa Budget Office is seeking a Senior Business Analyst.
The Senior Business Analyst reports to the Director of Budget Planning and Analysis and is responsible for developing and implementing campus-wide budgeting tools for the University Budget Office.This position will be providing primary support for the University's IPlan budget and planning system, along with additional systems and reporting solutions as needed.
Provide project management for budget planning and development system implementations, upgrades in functionality and other special projects.Project management includes tracking project schedules, managing resources, and serving as liaison between technical staff and end users.
Analyze, document and recommend final business process design.
Work with technical staff and third-party vendors to implement functional requirements and coordinate data interfaces with University systems.
Develop and administer comprehensive system and user testing plans.
Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
Develop presentations and required training materials for both administrative and end users.
Provide daily systems support for administrative staff.
Prioritize and manage requests for new functionality; coordinate changes and upgrades to the system.
About the Department:
The Budget Development Office's mission is to maximize the effective use of University resources through the coordination and oversight of all facets of the University's operating budget, to strive for continuous improvement in the University budgeting process, and to optimize the quality of budget information available to University.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Minimum 3-5 years of business analysis or process improvement experience
Ability to interpret customer needs and translate them into operational and system requirements
Strong analytical thinking and problem solving with experience taking initiative and prioritizing complex tasks and projects
Use of independent judgment to make decisions regarding operations and deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Proven experience implementing and supporting enterprise wide system solutions
Experience working independently and as part of a team to achieve objectives
Experience with automated accounting or financial systems
Must be proficient in computer software applications including Excel, Access and Word.
Working knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations
Experience developing and administering end user testing
Experience creating training materials
