FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Art at Kingsborough Community College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sculpture. Candidates should be prepared to teach beginning through advanced undergraduate courses in Sculpture and Three Dimensional Design, as well as additional Observational Drawing and/or Ceramics courses in an urban, multi-cultural environment. As the only full-time Sculpture professor, the candidate will be responsible for the assessment of existing and development of new curriculum. Additional responsibilities include departmental and college service, committee work, student advisement, administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Active and on-going exhibition record and professional accomplishments required for advancement and tenure.
It is essential that the candidate has an extensive understanding of sculptural materials, studio equipment, supervising facilities and students in a sculpture studio, and knowledge in critical theory, history of sculpture and contemporary issues in artistic practices.It should be grounded in wood, clay, plastic, metal fabrication, mold making, casting stone carving, mixed media and installation. The preferred candidate will be versed in new technologies as well as digital sculpture, 3D modeling, 3D printing and/or other mediums.
M.F.A. in Art, required
The successful candidate must have:
-Three years of University level teaching experience in Sculpture field
Professional accomplishment, including current and active exhibition record required, and must be actively engaged in Sculpture
At least 5 years of professional Exhibition and Publication record
Ability to cooperate with others for the good of the insituttion
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
$58,555 - $71,723. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
