Prepares and submits financial reports of varying complexity using numerous methods, audits expenditures associated with sponsored projects, completes closeouts, drafts correspondence to MSU internal and external sources and completes other related post-award tasks for the Reports Group within Contract and Grant Administration. May review notices of contract and grant awards, completes other related financial transaction processes and complete follow-up processes to obtain payment of outstanding accounts receivables. Duties associated with this position involve working on a computer up to 75 percent of the time.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration with course work in Business Law, Finance, Accounting or Auditing; up to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Accounting, Auditing, or Financial Analysis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Person must be able to legally work with export-controlled information.
Ability to create and submit invoices and/or financial reports of various complexity using numerous systems; review expenditures against award terms and restrictions and interpret contract and grant terms and conditions; good to excellent writing and interpersonal skills; financial experience in a business or university/academic; CPA license or certification; demonstrated good to excellent skills in Microsoft Office software; ability to think creatively, work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities, and manage deadlines in a pleasant and professional manner. Up to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Accounting, Auditing, or Financial Analysis including financial report preparation and review.
