Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field in hand by June 2020. Three (3) years of research experience in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related field. Experience in molecular dynamics simulations (classical/non-equilibrium MD). Strong skills in Python programming language and/or similar tools for scripting.
Experience with theoretical/computational modeling of colloids and soft matter. Electrochemical energy storage. Thermodynamics and statistical mechanics. Molecular dynamics simulations with LAMMPS or other open-source packages.
Brief Description of Duties :
The Senior Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering. The incumbent will independently and/or with colleagues conduct research and ensure that all research tasks are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The incumbent will assist the Principal Investigator with the supervision and management of laboratory activities.
Anticipated carry out research in the field of materials science and/or chemical engineering. Design and develop the research tasks to achieve project goals. Perform computational and theoretical modeling of transport problems related to electrochemical systems for energy generation/storage.
Analyze and evaluate data, utilizing specialized techniques.
Manuscript writing for publications in scientific journals. Oral presentation during lab meetings. May attend conferences and seminars.
Other duties as assigned.
