The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a full time Intermediate Care Hospitalist. This service provided 24/7 inpatient coverage and serves to expedite transfers from our acute care units, the Emergency Department and the Medical Intensive Care Unit. The IMC team helps to reduce length of stay in the ER and on the acute services, costs per case and re-admission rates, as well as increase admissions to the medical service, free up beds in the intensive care unit for more critically ill patients, ensure that 80-hour weekly limit on duty hours is enforced for residents, and direct admissions as needed. While this is a non-teaching service, opportunities are available for teaching.
Candidates must be board certified/eligible in internal medicine and eligible for an unrestricted license in the State of Maryland. This position also requires a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent), a strong commitment to patient care and teaching, and the ability to work well in a team setting. Expected faculty rank is Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.
