Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking multiple Physician Assistants to provide clinical care in the Neurosurgery Department at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is a level 1 trauma center which evaluates and treats over 71,000 patients/year. The hospital serves as our principal teaching affiliate. The medical school is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the education of education of health professionals, in the conduct of biomedical, clinical, and public health research, in the delivery of healthcare and in the promotion of community health for the residents of the state. Under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Physician, the Physician Assistant provides health care services to patients.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.
Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provisions of continuity of care.
Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
In conjunction with the medical staff, develops and maintains all requirements related to regulatory agencies of the local, state, and federal governments.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduated from a Physician Assistant Program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
New Jersey License from the State Board of Medical Examiners-Physician Advisory Committee.
In the case of a new graduate, they may be considered under the condition that he/she successfully takes and passes the Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the New Jersey License examination from the State Board of Medical Examiners—Physician Assistant Advisory Committee on the first available date following his/her graduation.
Valid driver’s license or reliable source of transportation required.
