Â The department of Physics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The candidate will conduct research in nuclear theory. Our nuclear theory group consists of three teaching/research faculty (James P. Vary, Kirill Tuchin and Srimoyee Sen) and one research faculty (Pieter Maris), as well as postdocs and graduate students. Â Our research interests are concentrated onQCD and strong interactions, including research on both perturbative and non-perturbative phenomena. In addition, we have a strong nuclear experimental program, consisting of two faculty who are active members of the PHENIX Collaboration at RHIC andÂ the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.
This is a 12-month position with renewal for an additional 12-month period contingent on performance and available funding. All accrued vacation must be used during term of appointment or will be forfeited.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Â PhD in Theoretical Physics obtained prior to appointment date.Â
Â Record of refereed publications commensurate with area of specialization and length of time since award of PhD.
