Summary of Position
Serving as a Senior Administrator within the Division of Student Affairs, the Director of Student Engagement is the primary professional responsible for a student's Transition, Connection and Co-curricular Education here at Alfred State. Providing oversight for First Year Initiatives, Club & Organizational Management & Development, Building and Amenities Management, Recreation & Intramural Sports, Event Management and several other supportive areas, the Director of the OSE is critical in the retention and success of a student at Alfred State.
Also responsible for identifying and developing professional staff & student leaders; developing, organizing, and facilitating a college-wide Residential Educational Program (REP); organizing and managing a process to assess student programs and events; advising students and student leadership organizations in event planning and management; supervising and training student staff members as assigned; and assisting in the development and implementation of student life programs, policies and procedures. This position will work evenings and weekends as needed to ensure the safety and programmatic quality of events directly or indirectly provided by the OSE.
Essential duties and responsibilities - Direct and Indirect
First Year Initiatives
Oversee the planning, execution, and assessment of New Student, Transfer, and Parent/Family Orientation Residential Education Plan for first year students Recruit, hire, train, and supervise First Year Leaders
Club and Organizational Management & Development
Indirectly responsible for the programming and management of events for Programming Boards (Alfred Programming Board) Indirectly responsible for the management and delivery of the College's High Risk Late Night Events program. Oversight of our Pioneer Link & Corq, campus programs by Campus Labs. Oversee various Student Activity Fee budgets Manage and create a yearly marketing profile on all OSE social media Serve as the primary contract negotiator and executor for the office and its recognized organizations, in compliance with university policy and fiscal procedure
Building & Amenities Management
Provide oversight and management for several building (Student Leadership Center, Pioneer Student Center) Provide upkeep and maintenance on several Recreational amenities (Tubing Hill, Rock Wall, Pioneer Trail, Multi-purpose courts, Recreation Field, etc?) Oversight of campus media, including digital signage
Recreation & Intramurals
Creation, promotion and management of Intramural Sports, Outdoor Recreation, Rock Wall, Tubing Hill, Pioneer Trail and Club Sports Management and oversight of a Club Sports program.
Process all scheduling and meetings through EMS. This includes confirming space availability and event appropriateness based on the requested event, College's mission as well as coordinating with other departments on campus for space and required approvals. Lead event consultation sessions for students, staff and faculty on how to implement successful events on campus. Assist in cost estimates, floor plans, and logistics of the event. Assist in planning and implementation all institutional events.
Evaluate and assess office's programming, delivery and policies and procedures on a regular basis, including the completion of annual institutional student learning outcomes (ISLO's)
Schedule and supervise all student employees within the Office of Student Engagement
Cultivate meaningful partnerships and collaborative opportunities with constituents on and off-campus
Oversee the office's representation at various campus events, enrollment/recruitment programs and presentations to classes
Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years' experience in Student Affairs at a higher education institution
2 years professional supervisory experience
Effective organizational, administrative, and communication skills
Ability to work with students, staff, parents, families, and faculty at all levels
Experience with the planning and implementation of a Residential Curriculum.
Experience in programming at a primarily Residential College
Experience with the management and oversight of a Late Night programming model, supporting healthy on campus programming during High Risk times.
