NECC serves about 5,000 credit students each semester on two campuses located in the beautiful, historic Merrimack Valley region of northeast Massachusetts. Our suburban Haverhill campus sits on 106 acres near Kenoza Lake, and features a Technology Center and an award-winning Student One-Stop Center. Senior Financial Aid Counselor: Student Financial Services/Enrollment Services; Lawrence Campus; MCCC/MTA Unit Position; 37.5 hours per week, Student Financial Services is open, Monday/Thursday/Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and Tuesday/Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM; The staff member is required to work one (1) possibly two (2) late nights a week which is subject to change based on the needs of the office. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Financial Aid Counselor advises students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs, debt management and financial planning. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State and College regulations and policies.
This position has a student caseload, which includes but is not limited to the review of student applications for financial aid to determine financial need and award aid according to government and institutional regulations;
Evaluates documentation provided by students; performs verification and conflicting data resolution;
Exercises professional judgment, assists with processing financial aid appeals, special circumstances and dependency overrides;
Oversees Student Financial Services social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter); strategizes, crafts and executes content on social media platforms.
This position will also be assigned administrative responsibility for particular Title IV, State, or Institutional program(s).
Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, Accounting, Human Services, or closely related field; with three (3) to five (5) years' experience and/or training involving financial aid operations, or loan processing; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
Strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and programs are required;
Must be self-motivated; have the ability to problem solve; be able to communicate effectively with students, staff and the community and have a commitment to customer service;
Able to work in fast pace team environment;
Strong time management skills are required;
Experience with social media platforms;
Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
Banner Student Information Systems experience preferred;
Experience working in community college and/or One-Stop Enrollment Services setting;
SALARY: Anticipated starting salary range is $49,711 - $56,330 annually with prorated fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits; Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system; Paygrade 4.
