At The Ohio State University, our undergraduate academic advisors foster student success by implementing proactive strategies that help students stay on track to fulfill their educational goals. Advises students on University policy and procedures, program and degree requirements, and related academic matters. Assists in student orientation and teaches student survey course. Acquires information for students, including academic, career, financial, psychological, etc. resources. Provides and documents one-on-one advising to undergraduate students regarding degree and program options, academic standards, general education, prerequisite requirements, and major courses for specific degrees. Consults and/or elevates outstanding matters that students may have to more senior staff. Advises students dealing with academic, probationary, and financial concerns. Reviews and processes add/drops, withdrawals, and program changes. Acquires information for students, including academic, career, financial, psychological, etc. resources. Assists in student orientation. Prepares packets for orientation session and presents orientation materials. Under regular direction, may participate on special projects. Identifies opportunities for projects and recommends to management. Engages in professional development, participates in unit and university-level opportunities. May teach student survey Course. Utilizes established materials, with few alterations, to convey content effectively. Attends trainings and grades course assignments.

Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Able to communicate complex ideas in a manner that adapts to student needs; able to articulate program requirements to a variety of audiences, including students, parents, faculty, partner units, etc.; demonstrates basic communication skills; demonstrates basic multi-cultural and inclusion skills; able to perform basic transactions in SIS; able to use relational skills such as active listening, interviewing/questioning techniques.
Target Salary: $19.23 - $21.63 Hourly
