The Department of Preventive Medicine is recruiting a Senior Research Associate.Â Working closely with the laboratory director - Adam Leventhal PhD, the Senior Research Associate will be instrumental in aiding the successful execution of a dynamic human laboratory and clinical trial addiction research program.Â Current projects include behavioral pharmacology experiments testing the acute behavioral effects of tobacco product administration, smoking cessation pharmacotherapy phase-II clinical trials, and laboratory studies of individual differences in response to tobacco deprivation and nicotine replacement therapy.Â This position involves contributing to all aspects of the research process, especially: (a) assisting with grant proposal development; (b) providing complementary scientific oversight of study design, startup, and day-to-day data collection operations for ongoing funded projects; and (c) supporting, collaborating, and leading manuscripts.Â Ideal candidates will have completed postdoctoral training in behavioral science or a related discipline, experience with human laboratory and/or clinical trials, outstanding writing ability, sufficient level of data analytic skills, and an ability to contribute to ad thrive in a team-oriented environment that values collaboration.Â The Senior Research Associate is a staff scholar position; candidates are not expected to have an interest in pursuing a faculty position.
USC-HEAL is a multi-disciplinary group of faculty, postdoctoral, graduate student, and undergraduate scholars interested in the intersection of mental health, health behavior, and addiction. USC-HEAL is housed within the Keck School of Medicine of USCâs Department of Preventive Medicine, which administers a Ph.D. program in health behavior research and a NIH/FDA-funded Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science.Â USC-HEAL is also the hub of the USC Institute for Addiction Scienceâa cross-school initiative supporting collaborative transdisciplinary addiction science and education across public health, social work, psychology, policy, pharmacy, medicine, psychiatry, and other units.
