What you will do:
This position will provide exemplary client service support for the Cornell University Hospital for Animals. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to;
Answer multi-line phone system, obtain pertinent medical information to accurately schedule appointments with specialty services;
Greet clients promptly and courteously upon arrival and gather/confirm medical record information and ensure visit consent is obtained with electronic signature;
Use sound judgement when handling emergent situations via phone and in person;
Review invoices for accuracy and collect payments while always maintaining cash drawer accuracy
Cross-train with all Client Services areas of the CUHA, and provide back-up support, as needed.
The CUHA provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year. The schedule for this position requires flexibility to ensure that adequate patient care and service needs are provided without interruption or exception. Schedule will include University and calendar holiday coverage to meet business needs. If business needs change, a position/individual may be realigned within the CUHA to a different shift or schedule. Primary schedule will be Monday - Thursday 9:00am-6:00pm & Friday 10am-6:00pm and rotating Saturday coverage.
What are the qualifications?
Formal training beyond HS Diploma with 2-4 years demonstrated customer service experience, preferably in medical/veterinarian reception/clerical/billing environment;
Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships including communicating with staff, students, technicians, clinicians and our clients, in a professional manner at all times.
Must work collaboratively in a fast-paced, often challenging environment while demonstrating a high level of initiative, paying close attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize are essential.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, demonstrating compassion and sound judgement during difficult situations.
Must have basic knowledge of MS Office software and have the willingness to learn new systems as necessary to carry out the job responsibilities.
