The position manages a laboratory to include supervision of staff, management of facilities and equipment. This position manages all lab licenses and protocols including IACUC, DEA and IBC, as well as maintenance of the EHS online chemical inventory and management system Bioraft and oversees lab ordering and inventory management. Management of the laboratorys mouse program including animal care and tracking, genotyping, redirections, interactions, updating and maintenance of the laboratorys cloud-based colony management software, also importation and exportation of animals.
Supervises, mentors and coaches research staff, oversees lab ordering and chemical inventory
Manages animal program: health checks, weaning, tail tipping, prep tail DNA, PCR for genotyping, run agarose gels. Manage animal databases. Manage redirection, interactions, importation, exportation
Manages lab licenses including IACUC protocol, DEA, and IBC licenses
Manages equipment and facilities: maintenance, service contracts, quotes
Manages IT interactions for lab computers and servers, work with internal and external vendors and coordinate with ITG
Assists researchers with experiments, including animal experimental procedures
Manages operation of core equipment for the department and training new users on laboratory and department equipment
Organizes staff meetings, attends departmental meetings, committee attendance and involvement
Masters Degree in scientific field
5 years of life sciences laboratory experience
Experience with mouse colony management
Experience with mouse necropsy and experimental assistance
Experience in common cellular and molecular bench top techniques
Must possess excellent organizational skills
Masters Degree plus coursework in immunology or cancer biology
3 years of experience in a laboratory management position
Experience with Softmouse and Bioraft and Oracle
Database experience, proficiency with Access and Excel
