Import/Export and Procurement Coordinator - (20000022)
The University of Maryland School of Medicine has an opening for an Import/Export and Procurement Coordinator. The position provides a central point of contact for animal procurement in the Comparative Medicine Program for all principal investigators conducting animal research on campus. The position requires that the individual accurately enter animal requisitions into the centralized database and expeditiously place animal orders, confirm vendor offers for accuracy, and coordinate imports/exports with vendors or external institutions. The Comparative Medicine Program is, in part, a service based program that strives to provide excellent customer service to both the University of Maryland, Baltimore and to external vendors and institutions.

Coordinate the procurement of research animals for the use in biomedical research. Act as the central point of contact regarding research animal procurement for the campus.
Assist research faculty in identifying animal models to support their research interests and arranging procurement or through a standard procurement request.
Coordinate and maintain procurement records in accordance with University guidelines.
Entering animal procurement details into the departmental database against a given animal care protocol, and prepare reports regarding animal use numbers for Veterinary Resources management, the research faculty.
Coordinate animal imports and exports with outside sources.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in related field. Experience: One (1) year administrative/coordinator program experience. Preferred: Prior procurement experience or experience working in a research laboratory utilizing laboratory animals in biomedical research setting.
Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience.
The Hiring Range for this position is low $40,000s to low $50,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
