Georgian Court University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor in Nursing with a focus/experience as a credentialed Advanced Practice Nurse in either Family or Adult/Geriatrics preferred. This position is responsible for the overall success of the graduate programs in nursing including the development and implementation of an Adult/Geriatric and/or Family Nurse Practitioner program(s) and Nursing Leadership graduate program including the development of the curriculum, clinical placements, and student's completion of the advanced nursing practice program. Responsibilities also include: classroom instruction, day-to-day program operations, assisting with the management of faculty, promoting the academic well-being of the program, helping to maintain/grow student enrollment, and staffing the classroom with Faculty who support the mission of Georgian Court University. The candidate for this position will demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching, in various modalities, with a record of academic research and publication preferred.
This is a full time, tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2020.
Integrate the Mercy core values of respect, integrity, compassion, justice and service in all aspects of interaction.
Teach 12 credits per fall and spring semesters with course load reduction to develop graduate programs including submission of regulatory documents, approvals from all required GCU committees including Faculty Assembly and the Curriculum Committee.
Develop graduate level curriculum in line with the CCNE Master's Essentials.
Develop, review and revise the graduate nursing student handbook for final distribution annually.
Coordinate the development, review, maintenance, and revision of all graduate clinical preceptor forms/handbook annually.
Recommend and develop graduate program curriculum and other revisions based upon faculty feedback, program evaluations, and changes in accreditation and other professional program standards and guidelines.
Provide leadership, direction and collaboration for all APN program related items.
Regularly participate in course assessment and program assessment and be willing to make improvements in teaching/advising.
Ensure clinical rotations and experiences are appropriate for the courses and student level each semester.
Provide aggregate data of any standardized exam for review and decision-making to enhance program improvement and development.
Spearhead development and writing of the Self Study for Graduate program for CCNE accreditation.
Assist in data collection for the Systematic Plan of Review annually.
Assists the Chair with remaining in compliance with Georgian Court University's academic policies and procedures, educational policies, and programmatic accreditation standards, and state agency regulations.
Assist in maintaining program related documents and generating documents for organizational reporting and national/state nursing accreditation reporting.
Teach at the Lakewood campus, off site locations or in evening.
Collaborate with colleagues in on-going off site teaching coverage.
Teach in lecture, online, or hybrid modalities, if needed.
Be willing to teach in The Bridge General education program in department or university-wide offerings.
Collaborate with colleagues regarding course materials (developing or using common syllabi/course outlines).
Scholarly activities, such as publications and academic conference presentations.
Coordinate the practicum placement of students in conjunctions with the Chair, faculty, and other nursing program coordinators.
Participate in departmental functions such as lectures, Open House, etc.
Engage in university-wide service.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ph.D. or DNP (ABD will be considered at the Instructor level).
Current New Jersey Registered Nurse license.
Current national certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
Credentialed as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
Hold current Advanced Practice Registered nurse (APRN) certification in the state of New Jersey.
A strong candidate will have a focus/experience with creating graduate programs in nursing and able to engage with colleagues representing diverse disciplines.
Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the graduate nursing level.
Online teaching experience preferred.
Ability or willingness to learn to use instructional technologies effectively is essential;
Experience assessing learning outcomes in courses and programs.
