Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) The Student Health & Wellness Center at Whittier College seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). The successful candidate will function in a collaborative practice with Physicians and Nurse Practitioner(s) in the delivery of health care in the Student Health Clinic. This individual will provide ambulatory nursing care as directed by health care providers with an emphasis on disease prevention and health maintenance as well as provide clinical duties per established policy and procedure and functions under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner. The LVN will be part of a team concept that will work closely with the Director of Student Health Services, front office staff, student employees and other related departments throughout the college community.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week Exempt Status: Non-Exempt Full Time/Part Time status: Full Time-11 month Salary Range: $21.00-$23.00 per hour; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.
Reports to: Director of Student Health & Wellness Center
Location/Department: Whittier College (Main Campus)/Student Health & Wellness Center
Responsibilities: Prepare patients for examinations, note brief history of the reason for the visit in the clinical chart. Take and record vital signs, height, weight, vision screen, UA etc. Assist clinical staff with examination procedures. Administer injections and medications under the providers' orders, except IV medications. Update patient charts in regards to allergies, medication use, and immunization history at each visit. Complete lab slips as necessary. Administer immunizations as per policy and procedure and college entrance requirements. Perform phlebotomy as ordered by the health care provider. Clean and sterilize medical instruments and equipment. Stock each exam room and order supplies as needed. Participate in health educational programming on campus. Participate in Quality Improvement projects as indicated. Assist with the health clearance process of all incoming students. Attend Student Life and Student Health Services meetings as indicated. Updated records into data base. Answers patient questions after consultation with the health care provider as per established procedures in that regard. Other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications and Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited Practical/Vocational Nurse program
California license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
Minimum of two years of experience as an LVN in primary care, preferably in a
Student Health Center, Urgent Care or Emergency Room
Proficient oral and written communication skills
Current BLS certification
Two professional references from current/former supervisors
