In this role you will have direct impact on the success of these colleges and overall Cornell community by identifying and responding to human capital opportunities through analysis, problem solving, and presentation of well-informed and relevant solutions to various HR challenges.
As a member of the Human Resources Service Center team, support the full spectrum of academic and non-academic HR activity in the College of Engineering, Computing & Information Science, and Cornell NYC Tech and serve as the first point of HR contact for assigned departments/units. Partner with Administrative Directors, supervisors and Department Chairs to support various aspects of human resources services including:
Assist in the creation of and delivery of HR programs and priorities
Recruitment and selection support for staff and non-faculty academics
Visa processing and tracking
Leaves administration and payroll services payroll services
Maintenance of personnel files to track appointments and promotions
HR policy interpretation
Liaise with central university human resources and subject matter experts as needed
Work collaboratively with colleagues to design, develop and deliver effective training programs to support human resource objectives.
Candidates for this role will have an Associate's Degree in business and 4 to 6 years of experience working in human resources, business operations, or customer service environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition to these qualifications you will have the following skills and experience:
At least 2 years of experience working in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
You are an excellent communicator who can flex your approach and style to the situation, using active listening skills to manage a variety of situations.
Possess a proven record of building and maintaining effective work relationships including the ability to counsel and advise a broad array of constituents.
Confident and poised to manage sensitive situations while maintaining confidentiality with tact and discretion.
You are flexible and adaptable to the changing business needs.
You have an affinity for detail including at the granular level and enjoy composing and proofreading materials.
A self-starter who can establish priorities and meet deadlines.
A team player with a "can-do" spirit who strives to deliver quality, timely customer service.
A master of standard desktop productivity tools, including word processing programs, database management systems, and spreadsheets.

HRCI or SHRM certification.
Human Resource operations experience in a higher education academic setting strongly preferred.
Experience using Workday or a similar HR system.
Bachelor's degree in business, industrial labor relations, communications, human development or similar field
