Position Summary: The Accessibility Resources and Services Manager will collaborate closely with the Associate Director to promote academic success, implement reasonable accommodations and provide equal access to educational opportunities for students with disabilities.
Essential Functions: • Responsible for all exam accommodations (eg., extended testing time and alternate setting to take exams) • Collaborate with professors and academic departments to obtain exams/quizzes in a timely manner • Provide disability related advising, support and guidance to assist students with disabilities in their transition and adjustment to the university • Advocate for students regarding access to campus resources • Maintain current knowledge regarding assistive technology and software to train and support students in its appropriate implementation • Provide assistive technology; coordinate schedules for the American Sign Language interpreters and Communication Access Real Time accommodations for students. • This position requires a flexible schedule to include evening hours.
Prerequisite Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, social work, Psychology, or a related field. A minimum of three years prior experience working with students with disabilities and providing reasonable accommodations in a higher education setting. Knowledge of academic support for STEM majors. • Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the Family Education Rights Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable laws pertaining to higher education and disability. • Qualified candidate must show demonstrated knowledge of the issues related to post-secondary academic support, best practices and innovations in working with students with disabilities particularly in STEM. • Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and experience working with diverse populations of students. In addition, the candidate must be able to work independently, as a team member and foster strong relationships with faculty, staff and students. • Technical skills and the ability to use spreadsheets and university student databases
