This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week.
The Data Systems Assistant will maintain the FoodPro/CBORD Menu and Inventory Control Systems for Washington University Dining Services (WUDS) & Business Operations with primary responsibilities to include input and maintenance of menus, recipes, preparation and analysis of reports. The Data Systems Assistant will work with IT to oversee projects, including the overall integrity and improvement of dining needs for Washington University Dining guests. The Data Systems Assistant will also provide training to staff and assist in dining projects for the furtherance of the WUDS strategic initiatives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct data input and file maintenance for Dining food service systems (CBORD, Odyssey, Micros Simphony, Student Information System (SIS), FoodPro, Tapingo), while working with IT System Administrators to ensure data accuracy. Take necessary actions when information needs corrections. Supervise the weekly production run, operating calendars, and weekly start-up and execute as needed. Prepare and analyze reports to ensure accurate cost and data integrity to meet budgetary goals.
Train staff to ensure they understand the Washington University Dining systems and the importance of accurate data input and delivery.
Work directly with the Associate Director of Dining, Assistant Director for Nutrition & Dietary Wellness and the food service production team to maintain accurate menus and recipes. Ensure consistent allergen, cultural/religious and nutritional information is adhered to and is displayed for customers. Enter recipe changes, oversee and collect yield tests and report all changes to the registered dietitian, production team and managers.
Approve, assess and manage the tabletop advertisement displays and posts for the Dining Services website.
Manage Menu APPS and Inventory Control Systems projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Associate degree or Registered Dietetic Technician.
Three years of experience in the food service industry working with or as a chef with food service systems.
Excellent data entry skills.
Organization and attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
Ability to communicate with chefs and dining management what information is needed and to hold them to the required timeline.
Strong written communication skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative manner, to be a self-starter, and to take initiative in accomplishing required tasks.
Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, culinary arts or a related field.
Further experience working in a higher education setting in a dining or similar area.
Working experience with computerized ordering, inventory and billing systems such as FoodPro, CBORD, Odyssey, Tapingo, Micros Simphony, Student Information System (SIS) and Food Service Suite (FSS) and Event Management System (EMS) or similar.
Experience using POS/Mobile systems to process guest orders and payment in a customer service environment.
Knowledge of culinary and nutrition concepts.
Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Serv-Safe Manager Certification or equivalent; if not possessed at time of hire, must attain within first 6 months after hire.

The hiring range for this position is $17.48 - $22.29 per hour.
