Full-time tenure track position in the Division of Nursing and Health Professions to teach in all areas of the Nursing Program with a focus on Medical/Surgical and Mental Health Nursing. Responsibilities include teaching and evaluating students in class, laboratory, and clinical settings in all areas of the Associate Degree Nursing Program and participation in College activities and committees. May include assignment of courses in related areas and support courses, and the use of hi-fidelity simulators.
Examples of Duties:
Facilitates student learning by meeting with and teaching assigned classes in accordance with the college academic calendar and approved syllabi in all areas of the Nursing Program.
Promotes and supports the value of diversity and cultural sensitivity in all aspects of learning and teaching.
Maintains currency in the subjects taught and recommends curricular modifications accordingly.
Facilitates student learning through the use of clinical simulation and technology.
Uses regular and occasional assessment data to monitor student learning and adjusts teaching methods, accommodating student learning styles and helping them achieve course outcomes.
Maintains a working knowledge of the technology necessary for the subjects taught and for other college and clinical requirements, including the use of simulation.
Maintains and reports timely accurate attendance and scholastic records of students.
Maintains licenses and certificates required for employment eligibility.
Participates in the process of positive counseling, advisement, and retention of students.
Communicates and consults professionally and effectively with divisional colleagues regarding curricula, student outcomes, and other activities.
Posts and maintains office hours for consultation with students.
Participates in the faculty evaluation process as defined by the Faculty Evaluation Plan, providing evidence of contributions both qualitatively and quantitatively to the college and the division.
Develops, reviews, and maintains the approved curricula of the division.
Provides input, as requested, into the divisional schedule and budget.
Participates in activities that provide service to the college community and its students, including appropriate administrative duties.
Contributes to and/or generates reports and supportive materials for accrediting agencies.
Adheres to the philosophy, mission, learning outcomes, curriculum, and policies of the Division of Nursing and Health Professions.
Maintains professional competence by participating in on-going clinical practice, continuing education, professional conferences, and writing relevant to faculty responsibilities.
Performs other duties, as assigned
Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
Demonstrated expertise in Nursing
Current valid license as a Registered Nurse. NJ Registered Nurse license required throughout employment in the position
Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in a healthcare setting in the areas of mental health/medical surgical
Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to the community college mission including addressing the needs of a diverse student population
Ability to design and implement successful pedagogical strategies for students exhibiting a broad range of abilities
Utilization of innovative teaching methods incorporating technology, including on-line resources
Commitment and ability to utilize instructional strategies to promote student recruitment, retention, and success
Dedication to improving college course offerings by active participation in curriculum processes, including outcomes assessment
Commitment to campus life by participation in college sponsored activities and functions
Proven commitment to scholarly achievement and professional growth
Participation in community service
Earned doctorate in related area
Clinical experience in a variety of settings
Experience in teaching nursing students and/or healthcare professionals
Current knowledge of associate degree nursing and teaching methodologies
Experience in outcomes assessment and program evaluation methodologies
Accreditation reports and or site visit participation
Familiarity with community college education
